The visuals were bleak, again maybe OK, but the music, Wow, someone let there artistic goals take over too much, the music became distracting. I felt like I was watching a horror movie, something with Vincent Price in it from a Poe tale. I couldn't recommend buying it. I kind of liked the idea of making Scrooge's office more opulent than normal, since it's usually this dark, cramped place with 7 foot ceilings. Other than that not much to say. Everything from the acting to the photography just looked amateurish. I watched the George C. Scott version instead. Even though he doesn't come across as very English, the production values on that one are way ahead of this one. A Christmas Carol has become so familiar it's almost a cliche, but maybe someday we'll get a new version that matches the visual and emotional heft of some current historical dramas. Come on people, I know you can do it.
