I'M NOT YOUR FUCKING MOMMY Nine-year-old Esther, Russian, very cute and polite, is very talented at painting, plays piano like an experienced artist, is smart, speaks English fluently and learns sign language very fast. The perfect child for adoption, or so it would seem. She always locks herself in when going to the bathroom, carries arround some sort of bible, wears really old-fashioned clothes and dresses, seems to appear everywhere from nowhere and strange things happen when she's around. Ok, maybe something's wrong here. No? Well then, no it is! Mildly shocking, unexpectedly violent and terribly flawed, Orphan is at times a fun horror movie that verges on self-parody, at times a bland horror movie that is filled with cliches and tired genre tropes. There… the pigeon deserved better Love this movie! It's campy, schlocky and genuinely well executed and the ending is just so batshit it works, interesting take on the whole evil kid trope. The twist just elevates the whole thing. Totally underappreciated the nuclear family failed, the old scars are as fresh as ever, that's the glory of love "I'm not your fucking mom" - Someone.
